The Fleet Decarbonisation Lead, reporting to the Operational Fleet & Environmental Manager will play a key part of our industrial fleet decarbonisation journey, which Northern Powergrid have committed to as part of their Environmental Action Plan. The scope of the project is to increase ultra-low/zero emission vehicles on the fleet to 40% by the end of 2028 contributing to a 30% reduction in fleet fuel.
This equates to 295 vehicles and supporting the implementation of charging infrastructure at offices/depots, substations and home locations.
The Fleet Decarbonisation Lead will be responsible for planning, delivery progress, managing expenditure against budget, foreseeing risks, resolving issues, managing internal and external stakeholders and business communications. This post will be based in either Shiremoor, Northallerton, Stockton or Castleford.
Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 pa (with 10% performance bonus) 2 year FTC
Key Responsibilities- Delivery of the project to the agreed time, cost & quality requirements.
- Developing project scopes and objectives involving all relevant stakeholders.
- Develop a detailed project plan to track progress ensuring critical path reporting is maintained.
- Project Management of the principal subcontracts, ensure adherence to time, cost and quality deliverables.
- Work closely with the Finance and Commercial teams to understand target cost/output/contractual obligations/monthly forecasting and expenditure.
- Ensure charging infrastructure projects are delivered in line with agreed budgets and timescales and aligned with new vehicles arriving onto the fleet.
- Ensuring any new policies and procedures relating to the use of electric vehicles and charging infrastructure are in place.
- Manage relationship with executive and internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage change management during the two-year period which will include communication with stakeholders.
- Establish risk management and resolve issues arising.
- Undertake regular audits of site activities including private and NPg property.
- Qualified to degree level (or equivalent) preferably in a numeric or business discipline.
- Project Management practitioner qualification in Prince2 or Agile.
- Maths and English (A*
- C) at GCSE.
- Business analysis certification/qualification.
- Accredited Lean Six Sigma tools and techniques, at Green Belt Level or above.
- Experience of rolling out electric vehicles across a fleet.
- Experience of operating in a utility or similar organisation with a dispersed field operation.
- Proven track record of successful project/programme management preferably through operating on company-wide/cross company projects
- Strong analytical ability.
- Experience in creating documentation such as business case documentation or business requirements summaries.
- Sound presentation skills and confident at presenting at all levels.
- Full driving licence and willingness to travel.
- Knowledge and experience as a practitioner of business change processes, tools and techniques.
