Senior Commercial Counsel - Northern Europe
We’re looking for a talented commercial transactions attorney to join our team to support our commercial business in Northern Europe with flexibility to support in other EMEA countries, particularly in Southern Europe too. In this role, you will work with the sales team, internal business partners, and other Legal team members to review and respond to requests from current and prospective customers.
As a valued member of this team, you will further grow your already existing hands‑on experience drafting and negotiating a variety of customer and partner agreements while performing matrix management across cross‑functional teams. You will have the chance to contribute to team projects and to our positive remote team culture. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced professionals to develop their skills and join the extended Go‑to‑Market team, supporting strategic transactions for Atlassian.
Where you will report: directly to the Senior Director, Head of Commercial Legal EMEA Region. Your focus will be to support transactions across Northern Europe, on occasion Southern Europe, and where needed other countries. You will work closely with colleagues in EMEA and globally on day‑to‑day work and projects.
Location requirement: the role requires you to be located in the United Kingdom.
Responsibilities- Be an active part of our Commercial Legal Team, supporting Atlassian’s enterprise sales business.
- Negotiate enterprise cloud and license agreements, including master services agreements.
- Partner and collaborate with privacy, risk and compliance, security, finance, accounting, product and sales teams to facilitate contract reviews and internal process improvement.
- Provide pragmatic, business‑minded guidance on contract‑related issues.
- Develop support materials and provide training to educate direct sales and channel teams on contract terms and other legal issues.
- Build trusted relationships with sales colleagues in the region, being curious about company business priorities and proactive in suggesting solutions.
- Advise business and corporate functions in the region, in close collaboration with specialist teams in the U.S. and EMEA.
- Contribute to projects improving contract processes and sales enablement.
- Enjoy working in a team and building relationships with sales teams.
- Take ownership and accomplish tasks while seeking appropriate support.
- Bring empathy and understanding to conversations with customers and clients, balancing risk and needs.
- Enjoy negotiating and closing deals collaboratively.

- Think creatively beyond the legal box to offer business solutions.
- Be curious about AI, working with AI tooling, and the legal aspects of AI and AI product features.
- Hold a legal qualification in the Netherlands, Sweden or the UK with 8+ years PQE.
- Have strong experience handling B2B contract negotiations with solid commercial and business acumen.
- Communicate fluently in English; other languages are a plus.
- Understand related topics such as data privacy.
- Be curious about Atlassian’s products, culture and business model.
- Show enthusiasm for working in an international environment, learning and taking on new responsibilities.
- Have good knowledge of privacy matters, particularly GDPR.
- Additional legal qualifications in other EMEA jurisdictions.
- Knowledge or experience in other legal areas.
- Experience with public sector customers or financial institutions.
- Experience in the SaaS space and tech sector.
- European public‑sector procurement experience and knowledge.
