American Traveler is hiring a Nursery RN with Level II/III NICU and Mother/Baby couplet care experience for a 13-week assignment requiring a CA RN license.
Requirements- Active CA RN license required
- Current BLS and NRP certifications required
- STABLE certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of experience required
- Community hospital experience required
- NICU experience with Postpartum experience preferred
- Skilled in IV therapy, administration of blood and blood products, and medication administration including antihypertensives, antiseizure medications, insulin drips, and Pitocin
- Magnesium Sulfate therapy experience preferred
- Experience with newborn care including cord care, discharge teaching, newborn assessment, phototherapy, and thermoregulation
- Experience with postpartum care including fundus/lochia/perineum care, cesarean section recovery, and postpartum hemorrhage management
- Experience with pain management including epidural management and IV PCA use
- Epic EMR experience preferred to expedite orientation
- Work in the Nursery unit with Level I Nursery, Special Care Nursery/Level II, and Postpartum settings
- Provides neonatal resuscitation, delivery attendance, and mother/baby couplet care
- Patient ratio of 1:3 for both Nursery and Mother/Baby
- Day shifts 3x12 hours, primarily 7:00-19:00 with some 11:00-23:00 depending on unit needs
- Every other weekend coverage required, approximately 7 weekend shifts over 13 weeks
- Occasional on-call required
- Floating required to Mother/Baby and Postpartum units
- Uses Epic charting system
- Provides age-specific patient care across pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations with attention to developmental and psychosocial needs
- Responsibilities include newborn assessments, circumcision site care, car seat education, and infant identification protocols
- Supports postpartum patients through vaginal delivery, cesarean section, and multiple birth recovery
- Assists with care of newborns experiencing neonatal abstinence syndrome, low birth weight, or large for gestational age conditions
- Follows isolation precautions and PPE protocols
- Minimum 4-shift unit orientation preferred for travelers with Epic experience
- Holiday coverage required for one assigned holiday per contract (New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, or Christmas Day)
- Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, with only 1 holiday request approved per contract
- Local candidates accepted at local rate
- Must reside within a 50-mile radius for travel rate eligibility
- Returning staff or travelers must have a 1-year separation before reapplying
