The Art & Design department seeks part‑time day, evening, and weekend instructors in Interior Design. Instructors are needed for courses including Introduction to Interior Design, Drafting and Sketching for Interior Design, Historic Interiors, Textiles for Interior Design, Rendering and Presentation Techniques for Interior Design, Materials and Resources for Interior Design, Residential and Commercial Design, Business Practices for Interior Design and Portfolio and Marketing.
Level 1 - $1,050 per credit hour.
- Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design; or Bachelor’s degree in related field with 18 credits in Interior Design; or Bachelor’s degree in Art with qualifying equivalency/portfolio and successful experience in the interior design industry
- Three (3) years experience in commercial, residential or kitchen and bath design.
- Two years of teaching experience, preferably at a college level.
- Proficient computer skills and Microsoft applications knowledge.
- Experience using classroom technology and learning management systems preferred.
- Current membership with ASID, IIDA, NKBA and/or IDEC preferred.
- NICIDQ and LEED, NCIDQ, CKBD, LEED, and WELL Building certification preferred.
- Fulfills department and college responsibilities as directed by the program director and/or course coordinator.
- Abides by College wide policies and procedures regarding classroom conduct.
- Ensures instruction meets or exceeds standards established by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design accreditation council.
- Employs a variety of teaching strategies to meet a diverse student population.
- Adheres to the scheduled time of class/lab.
- Develops a course syllabus that is in keeping with program and College policies.
- Ensures that program specific evaluation methods are administered and completed in a consistent and equitable manner.
- Assure that evaluation methods are appropriate and effectively assessing the established course objectives.
- Monitors student performance on a regular basis and provides feedback within a reasonable timeframe to students.
