Position: Network Administrator – Advanced
Location: Cayce, SC 29033
Duration: 12 Months (Possible Extension)
Work Type: 100% Onsite
Role Overview:
The Network Administrator – Advanced will strengthen and support DPH’s statewide network infrastructure. This includes performing installations, upgrades, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and system optimization in collaboration with the Network Operations Center (NOC) team.
The position requires statewide travel for facility upgrades, relocations, and issue resolution.
Key Responsibilities:- Monitor, diagnose, and resolve issues in enterprise wireless and network infrastructure.
- Support network connectivity for Windows, Mac, and mobile devices (including Apple).
- Manage the wireless network/device lifecycle at all stages.
- Conduct onsite wireless assessments and create heatmaps using Ekahau tools.
- Deploy and configure wireless access points, including ceiling‑mounted installations.
- Perform firmware, security, and feature upgrades for network components.
- Handle and resolve tickets in the Agency’s trouble ticket system.
- Assist with ISE device registration and security compliance.
- Provide 1st and 2nd tier technical support for wireless and connectivity issues.
- Collaborate with IT and non‑IT staff for issue resolution and project coordination.
- Maintain technical documentation, project notes, and status reports.
- Follow the agency’s Change Management and IT Security standards.
Required
Skills & Experience:
- Strong understanding of computer and network operating systems (LAN/WLAN/WAN).
- 3–5 years of hands‑on network administration (Cisco & Palo Alto Firewalls).
- 3–5 years of experience with Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE).
- Experience with network monitoring and ticketing systems.
- Ability to lift/move up to 40 lbs and work on ladders.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license (frequent statewide travel required).
Preferred Skills:
- Cisco or equivalent Network Certification
- Experience using Solar Winds Orion
- Familiarity with Ekahau Sidekick tools for wireless mapping
Education:
- Associate degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience.
