Job Duties- Work 11 hours a week, 12:30 PM‑3:00 PM.
- Work under the direction of the Special Education Teacher to provide education and related services to students with disabilities.
- Lifts and supports students, changes protective clothing, implements behavior management plans, operates adaptive equipment (wheelchairs, etc.), and communicates effectively with students and staff.
- Provides instructional support assistance to students and student groups to reinforce and follow up learning activity (e.g., one‑on‑one help, directs small group, playing with students, positive interaction).
- Assists in observing and recording behavior patterns and follows appropriate techniques to reinforce acceptable behavior.
- Assists certified educators with the presentation of learning materials and instructional exercise.
- Assists in responsibility for procedures related to physical and medical need.
- Assists students as needed in learning self‑care techniques, including toilet training, bathing and personal cleanliness; may assist in diapering, toilet training, feeding, and other self‑help skills as needed.
- Participates in the development, maintenance, and carrying out of systems for classroom management.
- Guides students in working and interacting harmoniously with other students.
- Regular, reliable, predictable attendance and job performance is required.
- Supervises students in all areas of the school.
- Must have basic computer knowledge, be familiar with Google Docs and check email frequently. Must be willing to learn and use all computer systems and software as needed.
