The ideal candidate will have excellent written and oral communication skills. The ability to work independently and in a team is crucial. This position will assist students with academic advising, graduation planning, class schedules, degree planning, and other student services functions.
Date of first consideration: 12/06/2025.
Essential Functions- Advise online and/or graduate students for degree planning, outreach, mentorship, tutoring and other retention efforts.
- Perform and coordinate outreach to students as needed.
- Advise potential, current, and former students during phone appointments, via email, video chat, and/or in‑person.
- Advise students of general education, major, and graduation requirements.
- Develop, perform, and assess appropriate developmental advising programs for engaging students and monitoring student progress toward academic and career goals.
- Collaborate with departments to meet student needs.
- Maintain records and documentation of advising interactions.
- Attend pertinent college, career, and recruitment events as needed.
- Assist in other areas as delegated by the supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- Demonstrated skill working with people as individuals.
- Evidence of drive and initiative. Must be a self‑starter.
- Ability to be sensitive to and understand the needs of a diverse student population.
- Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to utilize technology to communicate and maintain records.
- 1 year experience in advising or a student services related area.
- An understanding of educational processes.
- Prior experience with Banner.
Position is contingent on funding.
