The Financial Wellness Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and facilitating a wide array of duties, initiatives, and programs that enhance students' financial awareness and literacy. Reporting to the Executive Director of Belonging & Engagement, the coordinator uses discretion and judgment to leverage and manage SUU's retention and completion resources to support students in achieving their academic goals. The coordinator also oversees campus‑wide outreach campaigns to guide students through drop for non‑payment, commenced attendance, and large‑balance hold registration drives.
EssentialFunctions
- Take ownership over a cohort of students and provide support for their continued success in achieving academic and financial goals, including developing financial habits, providing work experience, financial aid assistance, and referrals to services.
- Support the Financial Wellness office’s assessment and data analytics practices, tracking and compiling data on all students, faculty, and staff engaged through initiatives and providing follow‑up outreach.
- Meet with incoming students during personalized visits to review their financial aid and develop a plan for paying college costs.
- Create educational events, presentations, and curriculum on financial literacy topics for students, parents, faculty, and staff (e.g., FAFSA Nights, Financial February events).
- Supervise work‑study students, ensuring training is up to date and assigning tasks.
- Manage scholarships for the office, including the Utah Disadvantaged Fund and Retention Scholarship, track funds, maintain spreadsheets, and chair the approval committee.
- Develop rapport and productive relationships with students, faculty, and staff through engaging, responsive, and welcoming environments.
- Create and share educational financial literacy content, such as video, social media, and presentations, with various audiences.
- Support the office’s commitment to increasing access to educational advancement and gainful employment for underserved groups on campus.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
– Minimum Qualifications
- 4‑year bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including campus partners, faculty, and students.
- Graduate degree in higher education, student affairs, college Student Personnel Counseling, education, or a closely related field.
- Knowledge of financial literacy and counseling issues, budgeting, debt reduction, and intervention strategies.
- Knowledge and understanding of federal rules and regulations related to higher education, Title IV, and financial aid processes.
- Experience supervising student workers and effectively leading them to reach goals.
- Proven self‑motivation, organization, and ability to plan and independently execute projects within deadlines.
- Comfort with working directly with students in person, via email, and through texting; understanding of Student Affairs culture and engagement methods.
- Demonstrated experience in coordinating and overseeing large‑scale events.
- Experience using Canvas, Banner, Degree Works, and Google Suite.
Position is contingent on funding. The role requires working 12 months out of the year.
