Medical Technician​/Deputy

Job Summary

• Provide health care services to the inmate population, including medication administration, assisting the physician or physician’s assistant, medical and mental health screening, emergency response and treatment, patient education, and laboratory testing.
• Deliver basic life support, including patient assessment, airway management, use of automatic defibrillator, and assistance with medication administration.
• Provide pre‑hospital emergency medical care for both simple and multiple system trauma, such as controlling hemorrhage, treating shock, bandaging wounds, and immobilizing painful, swollen, or deformed extremities.

• Work in shifts, including nights, holidays, and occasional call‑in duties.
• Assist with ED counter, triage, and inpatient care as directed by the medical supervisor.
• Maintain accurate patient records and report errors or incidents promptly.
• Collaborate with correctional staff to ensure a safe and healthy environment for inmates.

• Graduate from a qualified EMS program.
• Hold a valid Utah AEMT certification.
• Have at least two (2) years of related experience.
• Be 21 years of age or older.
• Work under the supervision and general guidance of the medical supervisor.
• Demonstrate positive customer service and related duties as required.
• Be or become post‑certified within one (1) year of hire.
