UNI Senior Auditor – Iowa Board of Regents

. The position is full-time (100%) and located at the Office of Internal Audit.
The Board of Regents, State of Iowa, seeks a Senior Auditor to work with complex accounting and financial data of various departments, ensuring accuracy and compliance with university and government guidelines, policies, and regulations. Responsibilities include researching identified issues, making recommendations to improve policies or procedures, planning and conducting a wide variety of complex internal audits, evaluating operational and business processes for appropriate internal controls, identifying process risk areas, applying internal audit standards, conducting follow‑up reviews, and providing direction and training to staff auditors.
Responsibilities- Research identified issues thoroughly and make recommendations to improve policies or procedures.
- Plan and conduct complex internal audits to evaluate operational and business processes for appropriate internal controls.
- Identify areas of process risk and recommend specific steps for improvement.
- Apply internal audit standards and policies to investigate and evaluate operations and activities.
- Conduct follow‑up reviews of audited areas to ensure corrective actions are taken.
- Provide direction and training to staff auditors.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, information technology, or equivalent.
- Minimum three years applicable experience, preferably in audit.
- Professional certification (CPA, CIA, CMA, CISA).
- Advanced knowledge of audit procedures and risk assessment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
- Critical assessment of business policies, procedures, and practices.
- Experience with data gathering and analysis tools.
- Ability to establish and execute projects to meet deadlines.
- Professional verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience in information technology, financial, construction, compliance, or operational auditing.
- Advanced proficiency in applying organizational acumen to key success factors.
- Experience in training new staff.
- Knowledge of Workday functionality and controls.
Minimum $70,000 to commensurate with experience.
