Assistant Professor of Instruction - US History
Join the Department of History at the University of Northern Iowa as an Assistant Professor of Instruction in U.S. History, beginning August 2026. This three‑year term position focuses on teaching and course development in introductory and general‑education courses at the undergraduate level, as well as graduate coursework for the fully online MA program.
Full Consideration Date: January 16, 2026
Job Description: The selected candidate will teach assigned courses, develop new curriculum, and undertake service obligations within the department. Faculty resources—including office space with computer and printer, and library privileges—will be provided to support teaching and research.
Required Qualifications: Ph.D. in U.S. History by the start of employment with a research specialization in either the Revolutionary era or the Civil War era; a record of success in teaching at the college level; evidence of effective online teaching; and strong communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. completion by the time of application.
