Position
Purpose:
Responds to ambulance calls and provides advanced patient care. Directs care and provides guidance forms vehicle maintenance and assists in the Emergency Room.

Description: Responds to ambulance calls and provides advanced patient care. Directs care and provides guidance forms vehicle maintenance and assists in the Emergency Room.
What You Will Do:
- Conducts an initial and ongoing assessment to gather data relevant to each patient’s needs.
- Identifies patient care needs and follows protocol.
- Evaluates outcome of treatment and revises plan as needed.
- Communicates relevant patient information.
- Transports sick or injured persons to hospital, or convalescents to destination, avoiding sudden motions detrimental to patients.
- Performs vehicle maintenance:
Checks vehicles and performs maintenance or reports to head mechanic and checks and maintains all equipment within rig and reports discrepancies to manager. - Assists in audits and other clinical areas as needed.
- Participates in public relations and educational activities.
Hours/
Schedule:
1.0 FTE; 80 hours per pay period; will include a weekend and holiday rotation.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduate of an Iowa Paramedic Course or National Paramedic Course.
- Certified Iowa Paramedic or RN Exemption.
- Valid IA Class C driver’s license and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR).
- BLS provider, ACLS, PALS, Mandatory Reporter. (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training (NVCI) within 6 months of hire.)
- Intermediate language, intermediate math, high reasoning ability.
- Ability to work with diverse group of people; ability to convey a positive image and build positive relationships with others; ability to work under pressure. Must pass pre-hire physical agility test.
