Transmission Construction Coordinator
Hybrid Work Options Available; This position may report to either our Johnson City Headquarters or our Transmission Offices in Cedar Park, TX depending on home location. Travel between the two locations will periodically be required.
$88,400.00 Minimum Starting Base Pay* + KPI Bonuses + Competitive Benefits
* Qualifications may warrant greater starting base pay within the full pay range. Individual base pay is determined by experience, job‑related skills, and relevant education or training.
Responsibilities- Provide on‑site construction oversight for transmission and substation projects.
- Manage construction milestones, coordinating with other PEC departments.
- Coordinate and report on construction schedules.
- Support specification and documentation of PEC design and material standards based on construction observations.
- Review transmission and substation designs during the design phase and prior to construction to provide feasibility feedback.
- Assist engineers and project managers in scope and schedule development.
- Contribute to contract bid proposals and bid evaluations.
- Provide input on modifications, change orders, and other impacts on projects, coordinating revisions with the project manager.
- Ensure contract compliance with PEC specifications, standards, and industry practices.
- Maintain safe working practices and environments on construction sites.
- Verify completion of construction activities before invoicing by contractors.
- Implement environmental and permitting requirements per specifications.
- Serve as Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan Inspector for specific projects.
- Submit weekly construction reports and status updates to all involved parties.
- Coordinate construction activities with other PEC departments to maintain timelines.
- Verify accuracy of drawing markups and as‑built drawings; manage hard‑copy and electronic file control.
- Notify PEC Engineering when projects will not meet contracted schedules and suggest recovery options.
- Reject construction activities and materials that do not meet PEC standards, specifications, and designs.
- Conduct pre‑construction meetings and safety tailboards as required.
- Work with vendors, procurement, engineering, and contractors to coordinate necessary materials on site.
- Report material receipt and construction unit completion for invoicing and inventory purposes.
- Assess material issues on site and provide solutions.
- Coordinate issuance of material to contractors from PEC Warehouse.
- Coordinate outages and/or mobile transformers as necessary for projects.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Keep abreast of technological advances.
- Demonstrate regular and prompt attendance.
- Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned.
- Proficient with computer systems, including hardware, software, and data entry.
- Strong customer service principles and processes.
- Comprehensive knowledge of construction standards and best practices.
- Familiarity with project management methods and concepts.
- Understanding of budgeting and cost management.
- Knowledge of engineering principles relevant to transmission and substation construction.
- Experience with assembly and installation of electrical and mechanical equipment, including high‑voltage gear.
- Knowledge of construction materials and tools.
- Understanding of electrical theory and the National Electric Safety Code.
- Awareness of construction safety principles and practices.
- Knowledge of procurement design and processes.
- Skilled in coordinating across organizations for construction activities and communications.
- Effective time‑management and decision‑making skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Active listening and comprehension skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Four years of job‑related experience.
- Directly related experience may substitute for education.
- Valid Texas Driver’s License.
- Required to stand, reach with hands and arms, stoop, and kneel.
- May be exposed to rough terrain and inclement weather.
- May need to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Must lift, carry, push, pull, or move up to 50 pounds.
- Travel may be required.
- Frequent exposure to outside weather conditions, including wet and/or humid environments.
- Position may require more than 40 hours per week.
