Hybrid work options are available; this position may report to either our Johnson City headquarters or our Transmission Offices in Cedar Park, TX depending on home location. Travel between the two locations will periodically be required.

Salary: $ Minimum Starting Base Pay* + KPI Bonuses + Competitive Benefits.

* Qualifications may warrant greater starting base pay within the full pay range. Individual base pay is determined by experience, job‑related skills, and relevant education or training.

Position Summary

This position is responsible for planning and directing complex engineering projects and serves as a subject matter expert for transmission line engineering for the Cooperative. It provides direction for the development and implementation of standards and specifications and recommends new or improved procedures for transmission line engineering. The engineer serves as a mentor and provides technical support to all engineering staff.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Prepare technical specifications and analyze technical data to determine appropriate limits and variables for product, process or materials specifications
• Prepare and study technical drawings, specifications of transmission lines and topographical maps to ensure that installation and operation conform to standards and customer requirements
• Operate computer‑assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks and analysis
• Confer with engineers, customers and others to discuss existing or potential engineering projects and products
• Direct and coordinate manufacturing, construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation and project management activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes and customer requirements
• Design, implement, maintain and improve electrical instruments, equipment, facilities, components, products and systems for commercial, industrial and domestic purposes
• Perform detailed calculations to compute and establish manufacturing, construction and installation standards and specifications
• Investigate customer or public complaints, determine nature and extent of problem and recommend remedial measures to management
• Oversee project production efforts to assure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time and on budget
• Manage the design and monitor the construction of large transmission projects to ensure compliance with the engineering design
• Represent the Cooperative in the Public Utility Commission of Texas Certificate of Convenience and Necessity (CCN) process
• Assist with submitting potential projects to the Electric Reliability Council of Texas' Regional Transmission Plan (RTP)
• Perform a variety of standard engineering computations and analysis
• Prepare engineering drawings, maps and construction specifications
• Research material specifications and resolve basic material issues
• Coordinate with Cooperative management, consultants, members, developers and government entities on all assigned projects
• Provide guidance and mentoring to other department engineers
• Provide efficient and effective responses as an engineering resource to other departments
• Serve as a department and project leader
• Perform transmission planning studies
• Maintain the security of confidential information
• Stay abreast of advances in technology
• Demonstrate regular and prompt attendance
• Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned
