Job Details

Under close supervision of nursing leadership, this role supports provider practice by assisting with direct patient care duties, including patient call backs and refill requests. May perform diagnostic testing, maintain supply inventory levels, and clean and maintain medical equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Room patients, take and document vital signs, and prepare patients for provider exam.
  • Administer medication under physician’s direction within the scope of practice demonstrated by training and testing.
  • Perform diagnostic testing such as EKGs, audiograms, typanograms, spirometry, and visual screenings as instructed and document in EPIC EMR.
  • Review provider refill requests and assist with daily medication refill requests using the ARC refill protocol.
  • Review EPIC triage calls and identify callbacks.
  • Review result notes and inform patients of normal lab results.
  • Ensure rooms are stocked and supplies are current and within expiration dates.
  • Clean patient rooms as needed, including proper handling of dirty laundry.
  • Maintain laundry cart with fresh linens daily.
  • Follow directions from nursing team leader or supervisor.
  • Follow clinic protocols.
  • Provide patients with educational materials as directed.
  • Adhere to all company policies, including but not limited to OSHA, HIPAA, compliance and Code of Conduct.
  • Maintain regular and dependable attendance.

  • Work holiday shifts as required by Company policy.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
  • Answer incoming phone calls in nursing triage, determining acuity and directing to appropriate staff.
  • Assist patients with non-clinical situations, then forward to clinical staff if intervention is needed.
  • Handle symptom/Question, medication refill requests, referral questions, lab or immunization record requests, and other clinical inquiries.
  • Utilize smart phrases for phone messages and route directly to the provider.
  • Post patient test results through the my Chart portal.
  • Refill medication following ARC refill protocols.
  • Assist providers with procedures by setting up equipment, preparing patients, and cleaning/storing equipment after exam.
  • Maintain equipment (autoclaves, sterilizers, speculums, check expiration dates).
  • Perform other duties within the scope of unlicensed personnel as assigned.
Qualifications

Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Required experience:

    Medical Assistant, or CNA/EMT/PCT (or comparable) with direct patient care beyond ADLs, including manual vitals and medication or injection administration, or graduate of a medical assistant program.
Preferred
  • Six (6) months or more experience as a Medical Assistant.
Certificate/License
  • Medical Assistant certification preferred.
  • Current AHA approved Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider CPR course completion card or within 60 days of hire required.
Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to administer medications and injections within scope within 90 days of hire.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Excellent organizational, phone listening, customer service, verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to multi‑task, manage competing priorities, and work in a team environment.
  • Proficiency with Windows and keyboarding.
  • Ability to engage others, listen and adapt responses to meet needs and align actions with team goals.
  • Professionalism in all job duties and reliable attendance.
  • Capacity to understand, recall, communicate factual information, follow oral and written instructions, and apply common sense.
Work Schedule

Monday‑Friday 8 AM – 5 PM
