Float position – covers most of the Cedar Park location with occasional labs (no more than an hour drive time).
Requires a clean driving record and reliable transportation.

SummarySummary: The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations.
Responsibilities- Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
- Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
- Properly explain in a clear but courteous manner the process of venipuncture (blood drawing) and other specimen collection (e.g., urine or fecal) as required. Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
- Fully understand all physician orders.
- Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
- Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
- Check all test requisitions or computer labels against the script to ensure 100% correct. Package specimens for transport.
- Store specimen samples according to required temperature, place samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes, accurately label, and follow different procedures outlined by the specific protocol for transport to maintain specimen integrity. Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
- Attend annual department trainings.
- Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
- Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment (as required in some states).
- Minimum of 6 months of work experience performing venipunctures in a fast‑paced lab or hospital setting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum 2 years of experience, including pediatric, adult, and geriatric experience.
- Experience with hard sticks and needles.
- Processing skills.
- Detail oriented and good experience.
- Computer skills.
- Data entry and processing abilities.
- Ability to handle a large patient load.
