Certified Medical Assistant role at Maryland Oncology Hematology
Texas Oncology is looking for a Float Certified Medical Assistant to join our team! This position will support the Texas Breast Specialist location in Cedar Park at 1401 Medical Parkway. Typical work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
This position will be either a Level 1, Level 2, or Senior based on candidate experience.

What does the Certified Medical Assistant do?Under direct supervision, you will assist physicians and clinicians with patient‑care duties in a clinical environment, promote efficient patient flow, perform clinic support tasks, and adhere to the US Oncology Compliance Program.
Responsibilities- Escort patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment rooms as appropriate.
- Record patient data prior to each physician visit, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
- Obtain all necessary patient records as required by the physician before treatment or procedures.
- Prepare and stock exam/treatment rooms and order supplies as needed.
- Assist physicians with exams and procedures as requested.
- Administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections as delegated by RN or physician.
- Maintain all exam/treatment room disinfection protocols.
- Answer patient telephone calls for referral to physician or nurse/pharmacist.
- Process prescriptions and make other patient calls as directed by physicians and RN.
- Inform physician of patient reschedules and no‑shows.
- Perform other administrative duties such as typing, filing, faxing, chart preparation, and reception as requested by supervisor or physician.
- May enter orders under a provider’s direction and supervision.
- Level 1 (entry level)
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Certificate of graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants preferred.
- 0–3 years experience as a medical or nursing assistant.
- Current BCLS certification required within 3 months of hire.
- Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
- Some state regulations may require specific certifications.
- Level 2 (adds to Level 1 requirements)
- Minimum three years experience as a medical or nursing assistant.
- Phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
- Level Sr (adds to Levels 1 and 2 requirements)
- Minimum five years experience as a medical or nursing assistant in a hospital or clinic setting.
- Current CPR certification required.
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Requires full range of body motion, handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, eye‑hand coordination, standing and walking for extensive periods, occasional lifting of items up to 40 lb, and normal range corrected vision and hearing.
