Job Description

The Speech-Language Pathologist is a qualified professional who directs, supervises, evaluates, and provides speech, language, and feeding therapy services to clients in an outpatient setting or in the home/community and as prescribed by the referring physician. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and possesses strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited university
  • Current Texas SLP license (TDLR) - must be obtained by start date unless otherwise specified in the contract
  • Current ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC-SLP)
  • CPR/First Aid certification
  • Strong Clinical Fellow candidates may be considered
Essential Responsibilities Therapy Implementation
  • Implement direct and consultative speech, language, and feeding therapy services for learners in various locations and delivery systems (individual or group settings).
  • Implement, monitor, and modify goals and objectives of therapeutic activities and interventions.
  • Utilize electronic data collection for efficient and accurate tracking and analysis.
  • Assist in the creation and implementation of speech, language, and feeding therapy services within the current and evolving ABA structure in the assigned practice location setting working closely with the Director of Speech and Language Therapy.
Evaluation and Documentation
  • Conduct initial speech and language therapy assessments with standardized assessment administration, detailed case history, and intensive clinical observations.
  • Conduct re-evaluation assessments at least every six to nine months (unless required more often based on progress or insurance authorizations).
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and use of a variety of standardized assessment/screening tools effectively under the direction of the Director of Speech and Language Therapy.
  • Demonstrate ability to write comprehensive evaluations, re-evaluations, and progress reports that communicate goals and objectives to parents, therapists, and support staff and submit as needed/requested within a designated time frame.
  • Formulate measurable and observable long-term and short-term goals.
  • Collect observable and measurable data for recommended goals.
  • Ensure that patient charts are documented accurately and entered on a timely basis; complying with HIPAA regulations.
  • Complete discharge summary reports and ensure any other transition documentation as needed.
  • Provide state-mandated supervision of licensed Speech-Language Pathology Assistants if required.
Collaboration/Communication
  • Consistently communicates with all Departmental Directors, regarding specialized programs and results from sessions if requested.
  • Provide routine notes and feedback to supervises as applicable. Communicate clearly with parents, other support staff, specialists, and administration regarding patient information in compliance with privacy regulations.
  • Collaborate and arrange meetings with team members and parents/caregivers as necessary for the maintenance of treatment programs and caregiver guidance.
  • Seek additional information from the supervisor or administrator as warranted.
  • Participate effectively at regular team meetings with supervisory staff members, interdisciplinary team members, and other support staff using appropriate social skills, problem-solving, and conflict resolution.
  • Conduct training on topics related to speech, language, AAC, and feeding therapy for all staff.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary training or projects.
Professional Development and Conduct
  • Identifies professional strengths and limitations and sets and meets performance goals.
