Accounting Assistant, Bookkeeper/ Accounting Clerk
Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support our accounting and administrative operations. This role will perform day-to-day financial tasks, month-end processes, and provide administrative support across HR-related activities. The ideal candidate has a strong accounting foundation and the ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Experience with HR tasks is a plus.
Essential FunctionsEssential job duties for this position include the following items. Other duties must be performed as assigned or required.
Accounting & Finance- Perform all accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
- Prepare and process weekly payroll, maintain PTO records
- Assist with general ledger entries and support month-end close
- Prepare bank and credit card reconciliations
- Assist with job costing, project billing, and work-in-progress reporting
- Maintain financial files, vendor records, and documentation
- Assist with onboarding and new-hire paperwork
- Help maintain employee files and HR records
- Support benefits administration and annual enrollment
- Assist with safety documentation and reporting as needed
- Assist with workers compensation and disability claims
- Support recruiting efforts (posting jobs, screening candidates, interview scheduling)
To perform this job successfully, the individual in this position must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the minimum knowledge, skills and ability required.
Education/Experience- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 1-3 years of accounting experience (manufacturing or construction preferred)
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and payroll processing
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Strong communication skills and teamwork orientation
- HR support experience or willingness to learn (preferred, not required)
- Reliable, proactive, and self-motivated
- Discrete with confidential information
- Problem-solver with the ability to streamline processes
- Positive attitude and commitment to a safe, productive workplace
