GENERAL JOB SUMMARY

Kirkwood Community College welcomes applicants for the position of adjunct instructor to teach in various disciplines at the college throughout the year. Please complete this application to share your educational certification and professional experiences.
You will be contacted if your credentials match the criteria for an opening within our department.

Currently we are seeking to receive applications for the following disciplines:

  • Computer Science
  • Computer Engineering
  • Computer Information Systems
  • Computer Information Technology
  • Cybersecurity

Your application will be considered each semester we have an opening in the subject areas listed on the application. Employment offer is contingent upon satisfactory results on a background check and receiving official transcripts.

Adjunct faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions scheduled intermittently based on institutional need. Adjuncts are not guaranteed work in any semester and are notified of course assignments prior to each term as courses become available.

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide instruction in discipline.
  • Work with other faculty members to develop a course syllabus and consistent assessments.
  • Communicate with department staff, students, and faculty on a regular basis.
  • Perform other related work duties as assigned.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
  • Effectively instruct and communicate material for the course.
  • Abide by and enforce safety rules when in a lab setting.
  • Welcome, value, and nurture people of all backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences, as well as support and promote an environment that accepts differences.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's Degree with a major in field or
  • Any Master's Degree with a minimum of 12 graduate semester credits in related field
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS
  • Experience teaching at the college level.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the mission of a comprehensive community college.
  • Demonstrated success in working collaboratively.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
  • Doctorate.
