Responsibilities- Under direction of professional staff work with students individually or in group settings.
- Assist with supervision of students (classroom, cafeteria, halls, etc.).
- Implement behavior management strategies.
- May include riding the bus with students.
- May include working one to one with student to complete assigned tasks
- Student supervision required.
- Ensuring student safety is required.
- Other duties may be assigned.
- Assist students with the necessary health assistance under the guidance of the nurses.
- Assist in the preparation of materials used in the educational process.
- Assist students at mealtime.
- Assist students in personal hygiene areas.
- Help get students to and from bus or car.
- Other duties as may be assigned
- Assignments may vary based on building and district needs
- Two year post secondary education or Para educator certificate or qualifying score on NCRC assessment test required.
- Seven hours (7) per day.
- $17.10/hr
- Willingness to assume responsibility.
- Ability to work well with others.
- Flexibility in working with classroom teachers.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to effectively supervise students while maintaining a positive relationship with them.
- Capable of representing the school in a professional manner, which includes confidentiality, communication skills, and dress.

- Stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle and/or feel objects, tools or controls; talk and hear.
- Frequently required to squat, stoop or kneel, reach above the head and forward 0 to 24 inches and on occasion up to 36 inches.
- Continuously uses hand strength to grasp items.
- Frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk more than the average person.
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds 0 to 12 feet and occasionally up to 20 feet (e.g., curriculum materials, desks, chairs, boxes).
- Push/pull items such as tables and carts.
- Specific vision abilities include close vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus while supervising students and working with computers, written materials, reports, assessment data, etc.
