Job Title
Special Education Para - Grant Wood - 3 hours per day
LocationCedar Rapids Community School District, Cedar Rapids, IA
Responsibilities- Work with students individually or in group settings under the direction of professional staff.
- Assist with supervision of students in classroom, cafeteria, halls, etc.
- Implement behavior management strategies.
- May include riding the bus with students.
- May include working one-to-one with a student to complete assigned tasks.
- Ensure student safety.
- Assist students with necessary health assistance under the guidance of nurses.
- Assist in the preparation of materials used in the educational process.
- Assist students at mealtime.
- Assist students in personal hygiene areas.
- Help get students to and from bus or car.
- Other duties may be assigned as needed.
- Two year post-secondary education or Para educator certificate or qualifying score on NCRC assessment test required.
- Willingness to assume responsibility.
- Ability to work well with others.
- Flexibility in working with classroom teachers.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to effectively supervise students while maintaining a positive relationship with them.
- Capable of representing the school professionally, including confidentiality, communication skills, and dress.
- Regular attendance required.
Position starts in the school year. Start date to be determined.
Compensation$17.10 per hour

Working EnvironmentQuiet indoor environment with occasional outdoor activities; may require work beyond typical 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. hours.
