Special Education Para - Kenwood Elementary

Position will begin in the school year.
Key Responsibilities- Under direction of professional staff work with students individually or in group settings.
- Assist with supervision of students (classroom, cafeteria, halls, etc.).
- Implement behavior management strategies.
- May include riding the bus with students.
- May include working one‑to‑one with a student to complete assigned tasks.
- Assure student supervision and safety.
- Other duties may be assigned.
- Assist students with necessary health assistance under guidance of nurses.
- Assist in the preparation of materials used in the educational process.
- Assist students at mealtime.
- Assist students in personal hygiene areas.
- Help get students to and from bus or car.
- Two‑year post‑secondary education or Para educator certificate or qualifying score on NCRC assessment test.
- Willingness to assume responsibility.
- Ability to work well with others.
- Flexibility in working with classroom teachers.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to effectively supervise students while maintaining a positive relationship with them.
- Capable of representing the school in a professional manner, including confidentiality, communication skills, and dress.
- Regular attendance.
Teacher Associate, 7 hours per day, $17.10/hr.

Physical DemandsThe physical demands include standing, walking, using hands and fingers, squatting, stooping, kneeling, reaching, lifting up to 50 pounds over short distances, and bending or twisting at the neck and trunk. Vision abilities such as close and color vision are also required.
Working EnvironmentThe work environment is usually quiet and may require working beyond typical hours, indoors and outdoors supervising classroom and campus activities.
