Principal Hardware Design Engineer (Onsite)
Join Collins Aerospace as a Principal Hardware Design Engineer to develop advanced hardware solutions for a wide range of military platforms, including tankers, transport aircraft, and helicopters. We seek a highly motivated Principal Electrical Engineer with strong expertise in high‑speed digital circuit board design, EMI control, manufacturability, testability, and thermal management.
What You Will Do- Lead the development of product line technology, including Mission Computers, Small Form Factor Multi‑Function Displays, Data Transfer Units and Network Attached Storage, Processing resources (Power
PC, Intel, and ARM processors), and Avionics I/O (Ethernet, ARINC 429, MIL‑STD 1553, PCIe). - Contribute throughout the full product development cycle: top‑level hardware product design and requirements capture, development and verification of digital and mixed‑signal hardware designs, oversight of Printed Wire Board (PWB) layout, integration and design verification, and support to qualification and factory transition.
- Travel up to 10% as needed.
- Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with a minimum of 8 years relevant experience, or an advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years experience.
- Familiarity with standard laboratory equipment.
- Experience with PWB layout.
- Collaborative team player capable of working independently and with cross‑functional groups.
- Experience with PWB layout of PCI express, processor board design (PPC, Intel, ARM), 2D and 3D graphics engines, and video interfaces (SMPTE, ARINC 818).
- Knowledge of lighting protection circuits, hardware and RTOS integration, fiber optic transceivers, DO‑160 or MIL‑STD‑810/MIL‑STD‑461 qualification, and FPGA development.

Benefits and compensation may vary by business unit. The salary range for this role is USD 101,000 – 203,000.
Relocation may be eligible for this role.
