Collins Aerospace is seeking qualified candidates for a Systems Engineer II to join our development team for Flight Management Application content for Fixed Wing aircraft within our Military Avionics & Helicopters Flight Management Applications department, located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The engineer will primarily work on our C-130 and E-2D platforms.

What You Will Do- Develop requirements and tests for fixed-wing platforms under the supervision of Flight Management Applications engineering team leadership.
- Design and verify updates to the Flight Management software for C-130 and E-2D avionics.
- Communicate plans and status on assigned stories to your agile team members.
- Coordinate with platform engineering and other software domain teams to identify and track dependencies for shared features.
- Champion knowledge sharing, elevating department expertise through formal training and informal mentoring.
- Take a program through the full software development cycle, from contract award to black‑label delivery.
- Deepen expertise in cutting‑edge avionic systems, positioning yourself as a subject matter expert in military software applications.
- Expand impact on the field of avionics, contributing to software solutions that increase operational capabilities of aircraft worldwide.
- Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a related field.
- Familiarity with Python.
- Experience in developing avionics displays and/or Flight Management Systems (FMS).
- Experience with Agile development methodology.
- Proven experience in design and development of deliverable software, ideally within a production or consumer‑facing environment.
- Experience with Python scripting.
- Experience with DO‑178 or similar certification‑based development processes.
- Strong foundation in communication skills and team collaboration.
