Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Power Distribution Engineer to supervise electric utility distribution design efforts and support Project Managers. This role involves managing consultants, coordinating proposals, schedules, and budget estimates, and ensuring the highest quality and efficient use of resources. The successful candidate will lead the Distribution Design group, assist in business development, and maintain accurate records.
Responsibilities- Supervise electric utility distribution design efforts.
- Provide support for Project Managers and manage consultants involved in Distribution Design projects.
- Prepare and coordinate proposals, schedules, and budget estimates for client activities.
- Assign and schedule work to meet client requirements.
- Manage the Distribution Design group to meet profitability and quality performance targets.
- Lead the Distribution Design group by hiring employees and marketing services.
- Serve as a resource to the business development contact for clients and partners.
- Communicate and negotiate effectively with clients, agencies, and the general public.
- Maintain complete and accurate records of all work performed by the Distribution Design group.
- Ensure Quality Assurance and Quality Control on all work performed.
- Demonstrate excellent PC skills with Microsoft Office programs and a working knowledge of CAD-based programs.
- Possess a strong knowledge of electric utility distribution design and work management software.
- Participate in industry committees and association groups as appropriate.
- Travel as necessary to support work.
- Administer company policies, salary administration, training, safety, employee development, and performance evaluations.
- Approve timesheets and expenses for direct reports.
- Achieve weekly billable goals as defined by project guidelines.
- Support projects with Joint Use experience when necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Leadership and communication skills.
- Experience in power distribution, utility distribution, and electric distribution.
- Ability to start and lead an office.
- Proficiency in Design and Distribution design.
- Professional Engineer certification is a plus.
- Experience in telecommunication.
Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum Associate Degree in Engineering (Power Delivery preferred) with 5+ years of senior /lead design experience.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering preferred.
- P.E. certification is a plus.
- Demonstrates supervisory and leadership skills.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to effectively market Distribution Design services.
- Understanding of electric distribution construction standards and practices.
- Ability to navigate and understand utility maps and design plans.
- Knowledge of field measurement devices, survey equipment, and software applications.
- Proficient in MS Office products.
- Self-driven and able to multi-task.
The company is in the process of securing office space, expected to be available by the end of the year. The dress code is business casual.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cedar Rapids, IA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $127000.00/hr.
