We serve internal customers, including our manufacturing and service centers, as well as external customers – domestic and international.
Your primary responsibility will be working with our mechanical engineering team developing new solutions and helping to support ongoing process improvement initiatives for the Cedar Rapids, IA site. You should be capable of performing mechanical design and analysis to meet system requirements. You must have strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills. You will heavily utilize development and debug skills for the development of mechanical interfaces and components used on multi‑rack automated test stations.
WhatYou Will Do
- Develop designs, documentation creation and modification, production support
- Contribute to the success of a cross‑functional team to develop solutions to production and field‑testing problems. This might include initial design, prototyping, and environment testing solutions.
- Develop and review product designs and analyze development and design requirements
- Design of test fixtures, cables, interconnects and associated documentation
- Perform tolerance analysis
- Prepare and present project / technical information to peers, internal management and customers
- Plan and manage tasks effectively
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience.
- 2+ years of experience in mechanical engineering design.
- Experience collaborating with engineering teams comprised of other mechanical engineers, mechanical drafters, electrical engineers, software engineers and system engineers.
- Working knowledge of Solid Works, NX Designer, AutoCAD, or similar design tools, and 3D printing.
- Experience translating requirements into physical design.
- Candidate must be detail oriented and be able to excel in a team environment.
- Familiar with Collins or Avionics products.
- Mechanical test equipment design experience in manufacturing environment.
