Overview
Safety Professional at Apollo Mechanical Contractors. This position coordinates and administers Site Safety Programs for compliance with federal, state, local, and company safety and occupational health standards and procedures. Provides safety resource support for assigned operating units including training and permitting. The Safety Professional leads safety and health efforts to ensure all employees return ‘Home Healthy – Home Safe’ each shift.
Exact location of coverage will vary; travel is required. A company vehicle or allowance will be provided.
Location: Cedar Rapids, Iowa
Wage: $60k-90k/year
Responsibilities- Lead or participate in incident investigations and emergency response
- Conduct site inspections and track all corrective actions to closure
- Perform job safety analysis
- Maintain jobsite specific documentation
- Carry out additional assignments deemed appropriate by Health & Safety Manager
- Coach and teach safety across the region
- Conduct safety training
- Strong computer knowledge and skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent organizational skills
- Strong tracking and follow up skills
- Self-motivated
- Strong verbal and written communication
- Knowledge of risk, liability, and safety management
- A college degree (Associates, Bachelor, Masters) in Occupational Safety and Health or related fields (e.g., Industrial Hygiene, Fire Protection, Environmental or Safety Sciences). Minimum 6 months of safety, health, environmental, or emergency response experience; or
- Professional certification as OHST, CHST, from CCHEST, or ASP or CSP from BSCOP. Minimum 6 months of safety, health, environmental, or emergency response experience; or
- Five years of construction experience where safety, health, or environmental protection were the primary duties.
- Certificate of Completion from OSHA Outreach Training Program (preferred): OSHA 500 or OSHA 501 trainer courses.
