Description Position Summary
The Director of People and Culture is the organizational leader responsible for stewarding Waypoint’s culture, people strategy, and human resources compliance in alignment with the agency’s mission, values, and strategic goals. This role drives the development of a positive, healthy, and high-performing workplace by strengthening employee engagement, professional growth, and organizational accountability. The Director of People and Culture partners closely with senior leadership and department leaders to ensure staff are supported, connected, compliant, and equipped to thrive.
Key Responsibilities Organizational Culture & People Strategy- Lead and implement a comprehensive people and culture strategy that fosters morale, collaboration, engagement, and appreciation across the organization.
- Serve as a strategic, well-connected leader with a deep understanding of all departments, roles, and operational realities.
- Ensure people practices and workplace culture are aligned with Waypoint’s mission, values, and strategic plan.
- Design and deliver a comprehensive onboarding experience that ensures staff understand their roles, responsibilities, organizational structure, and Waypoint’s culture from day one.
- Provide coaching, training, and professional development opportunities to support staff success, growth, and leadership development.
- Serve as a trusted resource for staff, demonstrating sound judgment, discretion, and resilience in navigating complex people-related situations.
- Maintain strong knowledge of HR policies, procedures, compliance requirements, risk management, and employee benefits.
- Ensure compliance with employment laws, regulations, and best practices while supporting staff well-being and retention.
- Identify and mitigate people-related risks while fostering a supportive and healthy work environment.
- Serve as a key member of the leadership team, collaborating on agency-wide planning, culture building, and implementation of strategic priorities.
- Partner closely with Senior Leadership and department leaders as a thought partner on organizational development, workforce planning, and change management.
- Foster strong cross-departmental communication and alignment to support organizational effectiveness and cohesion.
