Talent Acquisition Specialist

Location:

Cedar Rapids, IA Company:
To The Rescue

Schedule:

Full-Time | Monday–Friday | Onsite Role

About the Role

To The Rescue provides personalized services that improve the quality of life for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and other support needs. We're seeking a motivated, people-oriented Talent Acquisition Specialist to support our organization's staffing and growth needs.

In this role, you'll proactively source candidates, build relationships, conduct phone screens, and partner with hiring managers to identify talent that supports our mission. Previous recruiting experience is welcome, but we're also open to candidates with strong communication skills, initiative, and a desire to learn.

What You'll Do

Build relationships:
Connect with candidates and hiring managers to understand hiring needs, build rapport, and create a positive experience throughout the recruiting process.

Source and engage talent:
Proactively identify potential candidates through job boards, online sourcing tools, social media, networking, and other creative approaches.

Conduct candidate screenings:
Lead introductory phone conversations, ask thoughtful questions, assess qualifications, and identify alignment between candidates and open positions.

Support hiring needs:
Partner with hiring managers to understand staffing priorities, communicate candidate progress, and help move candidates efficiently through the hiring process.

Manage recruiting activity:
Maintain organized candidate records, track progress, coordinate interviews, and follow up consistently with candidates and hiring managers.

Drive results:
Prioritize competing hiring needs, maintain consistent sourcing and outreach activity, and take ownership of progress toward recruiting goals.

Learn and improve:
Seek feedback, develop recruiting knowledge, stay curious about new sourcing strategies, and continuously look for ways to improve results and the candidate experience.

Represent our organization:
Promote To The Rescue's mission, values, and career opportunities while building connections within the community and relevant professional networks.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who brings energy, initiative, and a willingness to learn. Previous recruiting experience is valuable, but we place significant importance on your potential, work ethic, communication skills, and approach to learning.

Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the confidence to initiate conversations and build relationships with people from diverse backgrounds.

A self-motivated, proactive approach to work, with the ability to take initiative and follow through without constant direction.

Genuine curiosity and a desire to ask questions, understand people, and learn new skills.

Coachability and a commitment to personal and professional development, including the ability to receive feedback and apply it.

Resilience and persistence when faced with challenges, rejection, or changing priorities.

Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities while maintaining attention to detail.

Comfort using technology and the ability to learn new software, systems, and online sourcing tools.

A bachelor's degree is preferred.

Recruiting, sales, customer service, or other relationship-focused experience is a plus, but not required.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role means consistently taking initiative, building meaningful candidate relationships, following through on commitments, and developing the skills needed to deliver strong recruiting results. We're looking for someone who takes ownership of their growth, embraces feedback, and is motivated to make a difference through their work.

To The Rescue is an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, status as a qualified individual with a disability or status as a protected veteran.
