Project Manager – Barnhart Crane & Rigging Overview
The Project Manager will oversee customer projects after award, ensuring safety, schedule, profit and client satisfaction. The role collaborates closely with the project team to develop and maintain overall project schedules, communicate critical path items, and anticipate and resolve issues that can impact cost and schedule.
Responsibilities- Provide oversight, evaluation and improvement of the efficiency of the project management team in alignment with senior leadership principles.
- Participate in customer site visits, proposal development and contract reviews to ensure comprehensive understanding of scope, contractual obligations and risk.
- Work with the Project Sales Representative from sales through development to execution, maintaining communication and documenting changes that affect scope, schedule or budget.
- Interact with customers, engineers, vendors and suppliers throughout the design and planning phase.
- Develop and maintain an overall project schedule, showing critical path items and anticipating problematic issues; identify typical scheduling challenges and work with the team to develop solutions.
- Regularly and accurately communicate project status, including schedule, financial status, risk assessment, quality, safety and other key areas.
- Coordinate work crews and schedule required equipment.
- Travel as needed and manage field leadership interactions.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in construction project management.
- Must have sufficient experience to meet or exceed the essential duties listed above.
- Working knowledge of engineering plans and specifications.
- Mechanically inclined with basic understanding of machinery, heavy construction, and industrial project flow.
- Basic math, geometry and planning and leadership skills.
- Proficiency with construction contracts and Windows‑based software applications.
- Time‑management skills and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- PMP certification preferred.
