American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a 13-week night shift assignment in a Surgical Specialty Unit requiring at least 24 months of Med/Surg or stepdown experience.

• Surgical Specialty Unit (SSU) within a hospital setting
• 46-bed unit caring for Med/Surg patients and all surgical cases except ortho and spine
• Patient ratios of 1:4/5 on days and 1:5/6 on nights
• Night shift, 12-hour shifts, Friday through Sunday, 36 hours per week
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required across Med/Surg units throughout the hospital
• Uses Epic EMR

• Active Iowa (IA) or compact/multistate RN license required
• BLS certification (AHA or ARC)
• Minimum 24 months of Med/Surg, Stepdown, or Progressive Care experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Experience with drips including amiodarone, diltiazem, heparin, dobutamine, and milrinone required
• Equipment experience with chest tubes, JP drains, 3-way foley, and NG tubes required
• Driver's license required for consideration
• Supervisory performance evaluation or reference from within the past 24 months preferred

• Provide direct patient care to Med/Surg and surgical patients excluding ortho and spine cases
• Required to work 1-2 of 3 upcoming winter holidays unless the unit is closed
• Limited time-off requests permitted during late November and the December holiday period
• Scrub colors limited to black or blue
• Weekend work required as scheduled
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible
• Past UnityPoint Health employees (FTE or PRN float pool) are restricted from working travel assignments at other UPH facilities within 12 months of separation
