Food Service Assistant – City View (14944)

9‑month position, Summers off, nights and weekends off. Work schedule aligns with school calendar; same hours as children’s school schedule. No work taken home.

Salary
: $15.75 per hour.

Responsibilities
:

• Perform general food service tasks, including food preparation and handling as assigned.
• Assist with cooking as necessary.
• Wash, dry, and store pots, pans, trays, and silverware using approved methods.
• Serve good quality food at breakfast and lunch, ensuring reimbursable meal eligibility.
• Process daily tally counts for claim reimbursement.
• Assist with general clean‑up duties.
• Maintain open, positive communication with all people served by the Food & Nutrition Department.
• Participate in short courses, meetings, and in‑service training as requested.
• Attend work as scheduled, arrive on time, and follow building/department procedures.
• Maintain regular attendance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills
:

• Knowledge of school food service program, nutritional standards, and sanitation.
• Effective relationship building and teamwork.
• Strong communication and customer‑service skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Required Education
:
High School Diploma or GED (preferred).

Preferred Experience
:
Kitchen related experience.

Essential Functions & Physical Demands
:

• Stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle objects; frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
• Frequent squatting, stooping, kneeling, and reaching above head.
• Work in kitchen and cafeteria areas with temperature and moisture conditions.
• Work with known food allergens.

Working Environment
:
High noise level; frequent movement; warm temperatures; damp floors.
