Licensed Journeyman Electrician

Helix Electric, one of the nation’s top electrical contracting firms, is seeking a Licensed Journeyman Electrician for a long-term data center project in Cedar Rapids, IA
, starting July 7, 2025
. We’re looking for dedicated professionals with 3+ years of verifiable experience in data center electrical work who are committed to safety, precision, and quality craftsmanship.

The Journeyman Electrician will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and testing of commercial electrical systems. This role requires strong attention to detail, blueprint reading skills, and the ability to work independently in a physically demanding environment.

• Hydraulic conduit benders
• Power threaders and pullers
• Powder-actuated tools
• JLG lifts and aerial work platforms (certification required)
• Standard electrician tools and PPE
• Conduit (EMT, rigid, flexible)
• Conductors and cables
• Switchgear and transformers
• Panels, junction boxes, breakers, and related hardware
• Fasteners, anchors, and mounting systems

• Install and connect electrical systems in accordance with NEC and project specifications
• Read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics
• Measure, bend, and install conduit systems with accuracy
• Verify dimensions, alignment, and clearances for equipment installations
• Maintain clean and organized work areas and secure equipment after use
• Ensure compliance with all jobsite safety regulations and PPE requirements
• Work 8–10 hours/day with flexibility for overtime and night shifts when needed
• Perform physically demanding tasks including lifting 50+ lbs, stooping, kneeling, and working in extreme weather conditions

• Valid State Journeyman Electrician License (Iowa or reciprocal state)
• Minimum 3 years of verifiable data center electrical experience
• Proven track record of safe, high-quality work in commercial or industrial environments
• Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local building codes
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Must pass pre-employment screening and be physically capable of job duties
