• Design, develop and maintain our customized Linux OS ecosystem, including build toolchain, kernel, root file system, boot loader, device drivers, and BSP for various hardware boards.
• Contribute to the design, coding, testing, delivery and ongoing support for embedded Linux software systems.
• Participate in root cause analysis and resolution of hardware-software issues.
• Prepare software builds for execution in simulation environments, reference platforms, and on target hardware.
• Follow Collins Aerospace processes and tools to improve product quality and customer satisfaction.
• Contribute to engineering estimates for tasks such as change requests or problem reports.

• Work with an experienced team to learn best practices and Collins’ engineering processes for embedded solutions.
• Work with cutting-edge technologies developed in-house and by external vendors.
• Learn how embedded Linux and low-level software are used in communications, security, and space-based products.

• Typically requires a degree in STEM and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field
• Experience as a command line user of Linux
• Experience in embedded C/C++
• Experience with scripting languages (Bash and Python)
• Experience with board bring-up and target hardware integration
• Experience with debugging and root cause investigations using hardware schematics and tools such as logic analyzer and Wireshark

• Experience with GIT and SVN
• Experience packaging custom Linux distribution with Buildroot
• Experience in developing and maintaining Linux BSPs for embedded systems
• Development experience with Agile methodologies and Dev Sec Ops
