Position: BUS DRIVER (PART-TIME - SATURDAYS)

Bus Driver (Part-Time – Saturdays)

Join Linn County's LIFTS program and become a safe, reliable bus driver. You will operate a county‑operated van or bus, providing door‑to‑door transportation services for elderly individuals, persons with disabilities, and other qualified passengers.

  • New Hire: $22.09
  • 90 days: $23.17
  • 1 Year: $24.38
  • 2 Years: $25.71
  • 3 Years: $27.14
About LIFTS Bus Driver

Operates a van or bus to provide door‑to‑door transportation services to elderly individuals, persons with disabilities, and other qualified passengers. Ensures passenger safety, comfort, and assistance while navigating traffic. Performs routine vehicle inspections, maintains cleanliness, supports dispatch coordination, and engages passengers to enhance customer satisfaction and reduce isolation.

Essential Functions
  • Safely drives a county‑operated van or bus along scheduled or demand‑response routes in urban and rural areas.
  • Assists passengers in boarding and disembarking, including operating wheelchair lifts and securing mobility devices.
  • Provides door‑to‑door support including walking clients to and from their home or destination, carrying groceries or packages when needed.
  • Confirms trip destinations with passengers and assists with fare collection or token processing.
  • Engages passengers in conversation to reduce isolation and ensure a supportive and friendly ride experience.
  • Conducts daily pre‑trip inspections and reports any issues to ensure vehicle safety and compliance.
  • Maintains contact with dispatch via radio or mobile communication for schedule updates and emergencies.
  • Cleans and maintains the interior and exterior of the vehicle, including windows, floors, and securement equipment.
  • Assists in emergency response and evacuation situations under guidance of emergency management officials.
  • Records ridership and vehicle maintenance data, including fuel usage, and participates in schedule review and conflict resolution with dispatch staff.
Minimum Qualifications & Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One (1) year of experience in paid driving, customer service, or human services.
  • Experience driving trucks/vans/buses strongly preferred.
Shift

Saturday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Linn County offers a comprehensive benefits package including vacation, holiday and sick leave as well as medical, dental, life, long‑term disability (LTD) insurance and wellness incentives. However, this position is for 8 hours per week on Saturdays and is not benefit eligible.
