Under the supervision of the Licensed Occupational Therapist, the Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) treats patients for mobility, cognition, function, strength, positioning and activities of daily living. The OTA conducts in-services and training for patient caregivers and facility staff on restorative and functional maintenance programs and clinical care. Reports to the Director of Operations and is responsible to the Therapy Program Manager.

The OTA communicates with families, physicians and other health team members and maintains professional documentation of services in the medical record. CRI’s OTAs model and promote competent, courteous and professional services to internal and external customers to develop and maintain a competitive advantage.

• Treat patients according to the plan of care developed by and under the supervision of the Licensed Occupational Therapist.
• Communicate with the Occupational Therapist, patient and/or family and facility staff regarding patient progress, problems and plans.
• Participate in patient Plan of Care Meetings and Interdisciplinary Team Meetings.
• Participate in in-service training programs for other facility staff.
• Record treatment notes, progress notes, provide input for discharge summaries and complete daily billing of services per policy and procedure.
• Instruct patient families and/or nursing staff in maintenance programs under supervision of the Occupational Therapist.
• Participate in discharge planning under supervision of the Occupational Therapist.
• Achieve or exceed the minimum productivity standard established by CRI.
• Recommend equipment to the Occupational Therapist to improve delivery of services.
• Report equipment problems to appropriate personnel.
• Act as clinical trainer for affiliating OTA programs for area universities and colleges.
• Comply with Occupational Therapy Assistant Licensure and Certification Standards.
• Represent Concept Rehab with professional image and good judgment.
• Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.

Strong relationship and interpersonal skills, high emotional intelligence, clear written and verbal communication, problem-solving and critical evaluation, cultural awareness, ethical practice, ability to exercise independent judgment, and confidentiality.

Licensed in the state(s) where services are provided as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant.
