Position: High School Science Instructor (IB)

Description

Creation Village World School is seeking an experienced and passionate IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Career-related Programme (CP) Science Instructor to join our dynamic faculty team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in science, with an emphasis on hands‑on exploration, inquiry‑based learning, and fostering a deep appreciation for the scientific method.

Job Responsibilities

Reporting to the Dean of the Career‑Programme (CP), the Science Teacher is responsible for the daily functions and management of Sciences for 9th through 11th grade.

Missional Responsibilities
  • Model the core values of CVWS in the classroom and school
  • Demonstrate and live CREATION Life in the classroom, guiding students as they develop in each principle of Christ‑centered living
  • Develop students through the International Baccalaureate (IB) philosophy and mission daily
  • Integrate the UN SDGs into instruction
  • Integrate RULER into daily classroom instruction
  • Teaching Responsibilities
    • Design and deliver engaging IB MYP and CP Science lessons that align with IB philosophy, objectives, and curriculum frameworks.
    • Implement hands‑on, experiential learning opportunities that encourage students to explore scientific concepts through inquiry and experimentation.
    • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs, ensuring all students have access to rigorous and meaningful learning experiences.
    • Develop assessments that align with IB criteria, provide meaningful feedback, and support student growth in scientific inquiry.
    • Promote critical thinking, problem‑solving, and collaboration in the classroom.
    • Facilitate student‑led projects and experiments that encourage curiosity and real‑world application of scientific principles.
    • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages active student participation.
    • Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary projects and support whole‑school initiatives.
    • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding academic progress and classroom expectations.
    • Participate in professional development opportunities and stay current with IB best practices in science instruction.
    Develop students in mind, body, and spirit
    • Integrate with CVWS's classroom management, instruction, and routines.
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and developmentally appropriate room that creates a safe and enjoyable learning environment for the students.
    • Meet with the Dean of the CP to discuss each student's progress and needs, determine their priorities for the student, and suggest ways to promote learning and development.
    Requirements Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree (Master’s preferred) in Science, Education, or a related field.
    • IB MYP teaching certification preferred.
    • Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in an IB setting (preferred).
    • Strong understanding of IB philosophy, curriculum framework, and assessment strategies.
    • Experience in differentiating instruction and implementing inquiry‑based learning strategies.
    • Passion for hands‑on science exploration and experiential learning.
    • Excellent communication, organizational, and collaborative skills.
    • Commitment to the mission and values of Creation Village World School.
    Requirements

    Physical constraints required include the ability to hear the conversational voice, with or without a hearing aid, the ability to see and read newsprint with or without corrective lenses, to speak and be understood under normal circumstances, to lift and carry children and other items weighing up to 50 pounds, and the use of arms, hands, legs, and feet with or without corrective devices to accomplish the job, including the evacuation of the building during emergencies.
