About The Role & Team

At Disney Experiences Technology, our team creates world‑class immersive digital experiences for the Company’s premier vacation brands including Disney’s Parks & Resorts worldwide, Disney Cruise Line, Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa, and Disney Vacation Club. The Disney Experiences Technology team is responsible for the end‑to‑end digital and physical guest experience for all technology & digital‑led initiatives across the Attractions & Entertainment, Food & Beverage, Resorts & Transportation, and Merchandise lines of business as well as other initiatives including the My Disney Experience  app and Hey, Disney!

The Lead Software Engineer role will be part of the delivery team responsible for the transformation of DCL Crew HR systems integration with Disney’s Enterprise Human Resource Platforms. This role will collaborate with TWDC Human Resources & Technology partners in the transition to a new global Human Resource Management System and our recently upgraded SAP financial platform. Experience with Human Resource functions and industry platforms such as SAP, Success Factors, or Workday would be beneficial to success in this role.

The Lead Software Engineer will need to champion custom software projects to interface with the new HR system, improve L2 and L3 support channels, and engage on other company initiatives in the HR Crew space. They will be responsible for facilitating the translation of functional business requirements into technical specifications for the development teams and work along with Business Analysts, Product Owners, and Project Managers to ensure the delivery of a best‑in‑class solution for our business stakeholders.

What

You’ll Do
  • Own the analysis, design, program, debugging, and modifications of software improvements and/or new products used in local, networked, cloud‑based, or Internet‑related computer programs.
  • Lead projects that may be used in commercial and end‑user applications or focus on software and tools supporting infrastructure and technology platforms.
    • Facilitate decision making by engaging the appropriate resources and driving to closure.
    • Collaborate with other tech leads on best practices, integration requirements to ensure alignment.
    • Collaborate with Business Analysts, Product Managers, and Project Managers to develop business cases, ensuring benefits align to strategic and tactical objectives.
    • Provide advice and recommendations on emerging trends useful to both the business and internal IT resources.
    • Proactively raise concerns to management when a technical blocker puts the project at risk.
    • Take a lead role in developing best‑in‑class practices and processes for the organization.
    • Mentor team members on software development best practices and standards.
    • Recommend improvements to processes and technology that improve the effectiveness of the team.
    • Develop and drive the strategic technology roadmap.
  • Work typically involves large or highly sophisticated software programs and systems.
  • Possess an in‑depth knowledge of current programming language and technologies, with strong skills in writing code and completing programming tasks.
  • May perform or lead testing and debugging of applications, identifying innovative solutions.
  • Conceive, design, develop, test, and implement software components, fixes, improvements, and/or new systems and applications.
  • Interact with users to define system requirements and/or necessary modifications.
    • Work with the business analyst and product team to clarify and document requirements (both functional and non‑functional).
    • Define technical stories from business requirements and ensure they have all details needed to be ready for development prior to review by the development team/sprint planning.
    • Ensure all business requirements implementation passed to developers are clear and concise, documented correctly in Jira.
    • Architects and Software Engineers design and implement appropriate solutions and documentation (including UML diagrams).
  • Help engage around the estimation and planning of highly sophisticated scalable projects and their budget allocations.
