In our retail locations, we bring this promise to life with heart every day and our Pharmacy Technicians (Technicians) play a critical role in supporting our pharmacy teams to consistently deliver on our brand promise.

Responsibilities
  • Live our purpose by following all company SOPs at each workstation to help our Pharmacists manage and improve patient health.
  • Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at each pharmacy workstation (production, pick‑up, drive‑thru, drop‑off) for safe, accurate prescription fulfillment.
  • Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care: creating heartfelt moments while serving patients in person and over the phone; offering immunizations and other services; and solving or escalating patient problems.
  • Complete basic inventory activities, as permitted by law, and as directed by pharmacy leadership: accurately put away medication deliveries and complete cycle counts, returns‑to‑stocks, waiting bin inventories, etc.
  • Contribute to a high‑performing team, embrace a growth mindset, and be receptive to feedback; actively seek opportunities to expand clinical and technical knowledge needed to better assist patients.
  • Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, volunteer traveling to stores in the market to work shifts as needed by the business.
  • Understand and comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles; comply with CVS policies and procedures to ensure patient safety, controlled substance dispensing and record‑keeping, and patient privacy and security.
  • Deliver additional patient health care services (e.g., immunizations, point‑of‑care testing, and voluntary staffing off‑site clinics), where allowable by law and supported by required training and certification.
Immunization Responsibilities (if applicable)
  • Complete additional licensure and training requirements, in compliance with state Board of Pharmacy regulations, to obtain Technician Immunizer status to support preparing and administering vaccines.
  • Educate patients about the importance of vaccines and refer patients to the Pharmacist‑on‑duty for vaccination questions.
  • Monitor for, and respond to, adverse reactions; report adverse reaction events per public health requirements.
  • Review and collect patient information; track and document for each applicable patient.
  • Monitor and manage vaccine supplies.
Required Qualifications
  • Must comply with any state board of pharmacy requirements or laws governing the practice of pharmacy, which includes but is not limited to age, education, and licensure/certification.
  • If the state board does not address minimum age, must be at least 16 years of age.
  • If the state board does not address minimum educational requirement, must have a high school diploma or equivalent, or be actively enrolled in high school or high school equivalency program.
  • State‑level licensure and national certification requirements vary by state.
