Job Duties
- Under direct supervision, assist Maintenance Electricians with locating and correcting electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic machine problems.
- Assist with planned maintenance and day to day general maintenance items.
- Assist with finding, ordering, and making parts required to fix machines.
- Use lift trucks and other equipment to move, hook up and level machines.
- Do paperwork to keep records of machine problems and machine upkeep.
- Complete on-the-job training and applicable associate degree (or equivalent) during a two-year apprenticeship training period.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas (5S).
- Comply with all applicable occupational Environmental, Health, and Safety standards, as well as Crown’s safety rules and regulations for each task performed. To prevent the risk of injury, report unsafe conditions and do not perform unsafe acts.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Per 8 hr. shift (stand/walk 6 hrs., sit 2 hrs.), frequently (bend/stoop/twist, squat/kneel/crawl, torque, climb to step into lift trucks, reach above shoulder level, reach below knee level, balance, push/pull). Frequent lifting and carrying (frequently from 0 to 40 lbs., occasionally from 41 to 50 lbs.). May have to occasionally use a hoist or lift truck or team lift items from 51-70 lbs.
Must be able to hear, see, have good binocular vision, distinguish colors, do simple and firm grasping with both hands, use fingers to grasp/grip small parts or wires, and use feet to operate foot pedals. Must be able to work in noisy environments that include exposure to outdoor and indoor temperatures, heat, weld flash, chemicals, fumes, bright lights, plant electrical voltages, vibrations from lift trucks, dust, shavings, solvents, grease, and oil.
Must be able to safely operate lift trucks and safely work in areas of lift truck traffic. Ability to drive company vehicles preferred. Required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines; using measurement devices;
and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes. - Read and understand electric, hydraulic, pneumatic, and machine prints and diagrams. Basic math (including fractions and decimals), basic understanding of PLC Logics, basic computer knowledge, remember, reason, analyze, problem solve, and troubleshoot.
- Must be able to understand verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to multi-task preferred.
