The Senior Estimator is responsible for the overall project estimate while providing leadership, training, and mentoring for the team under the Preconstruction Manager. Works with clients, architects/engineers, subcontractors/suppliers to plan cost factors for building projects; analyzes construction documents, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for projects.

• Supports business development in project acquisition, including pre‑planning, budgeting, and interviewing for requests for proposals.
• Attends pre‑proposal meetings and performs site visits to assist in the preparation of proposals.

• Consults with clients, architects, subcontractors, and material suppliers to discuss and formulate estimates, effect cost reductions, and resolve issues.
• Runs preconstruction meetings, charrettes, or workshops as necessary.
• Manages and tracks multiple preconstruction projects concurrently.
• Creates, maintains, and manages the preconstruction/design schedule for projects.
• Presents and explains project budgets to clients, designers, and operations teams.
• Ensures the project team acts with integrity and employs ethical behavior during all estimating phases.

• Prepares estimates with the proper level of detail for all design stages.
• Assists the preconstruction manager in managing the estimating team in the assembly and submission of bids.
• Utilizes proficiency in basic estimating techniques for CSI divisions 2‑14 and 31‑33.
• Assists with system analysis of building components and MEP systems.
• Manages the estimate and coordination of MEP systems on smaller projects.
• Prepares quantity take‑offs and estimates costs of materials, labor, and equipment.
• Fills scope gaps with own estimates or infill from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Studies specifications to assist operations in planning construction schedules.
• Helps lead the Pursue, Plan, and Execute (PP&E) Process with the operations team.
• Reviews design documents for constructability and value engineering ideas.

• Manages the subcontractor solicitation process with Pantera or other programs.
• Ensures proper bid coverage per scope of work and owner contract requirements.
• Creates proper bid packages and works with design team on required information.
• Assists in subcontractor prequalification and ensures awarded subcontractors have required experience.
• Supervises and creates general instructions to bidders and required bid forms.
• Reviews bids for conformity to contract requirements and determines acceptable bids.
• Administers buy‑out process and hands off to Operations Team.

• Assists in maintaining the estimating cost database to keep current costs.
• Mentors and trains Project Estimators, Estimators, and Preconstruction Engineers.

• Maintains relationships with existing subcontractors and creates new relationships.
• Participates in industry organization events to represent Haselden.
• Fosters and maintains relationships with Owners and Design teams.

• Proficiency with software or internet‑based programs, including Destini Estimator, Procore, Join.
  
  Build, Bluebeam, On‑Screen Takeoff, Microsoft Teams, MS Office Suite, Pantera.
• B.S. degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering, Construction or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5‑7 years of estimating experience.
