Satellite Electrical Power Systems (EPS) Engineer

Duties and Responsibilities- Design, develop, and test advanced Electrical Power Systems (EPS) for satellite missions, including power generation, storage, distribution, and regulation.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure EPS meets mission performance, reliability, and cost constraints.
- Perform power system analyses, including fault analysis and power quality assessments.
- Develop and optimize solar array and battery systems, including sizing, configuration, and integration.
- Support integration and testing of EPS systems, including development of test plans and procedures and execution of tests in laboratory and flight environments.
- Participate in reviews of requirements, design, and test procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including system specifications, test plans, and design analysis reports.
- Stay current on industry trends and EPS technology advancements, proactively identifying opportunities for technology insertion and innovation.
- Work with GA‑EMS engineering staff and chief engineers on concept development, prototype design, integration, and test of high‑power processing solutions for all product lines and technology areas, emphasizing satellite and space systems.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline from an accredited institution and six or more years of experience, or master’s degree with four or more years of experience, or PhD with two or more years of experience. Equivalent engineering experience may substitute education.
- Satellite Electrical Power Systems architecture, solar array design and optimization, battery system analysis and integration, power distribution and regulation design.
- Embedded processing and controls; design and implementation of hardware systems to include power electronics, analog, and digital circuits; guiding a design through development and into production.
- Technical expertise and application of engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice with the ability to organize, plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate workloads to meet deadlines or milestones with project leadership experience.
- Rapid understanding of new concepts and application across evolving project environments.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to interface with departments, customers, government representatives, and professionals.
- Capable of representing the organization as a prime technical contact.
- Customer‑focused with the ability to formulate plans based on innovative design development and resolution of advanced technical problems.
- Self‑initiated and team‑oriented ability to work extended hours and travel as required.
- Customer‑focused and self‑initiated team environment with extended hours and travel as required.
- Active and current TS/SCI clearance required.
