Harris is seeking a Senior Specialist in Configuration Management to support engineering and program teams. The role focuses on performing CM functions to ensure product performance, functional and physical attributes align with requirements, design, and operational information. Key responsibilities include maintaining the integrity of system documentation, drawings, design artifacts, baselines, records, and associated configuration information using established CM processes and controls.
Functions
- Lead the implementation of advanced CM documentation, processes, and principles in an Agile development environment.
- Oversee and enhance existing CM toolsets such as Agile Product Data Management (PDM), Team Center, Rational Clear Quest, Windchill, and JIRA.
- Chair the Configuration Change Board (CCB) process, ensuring detailed analysis and approval of complex product design changes for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with standards.
- Direct and manage the review and authorization of the release of drawings and documentation as specified by Program or Engineering Management.
- Provide expert advice and strategic guidance on CM methods, tools, procedures, and requirements to senior project team members and stakeholders.
- Act as a senior liaison between management and other functional groups to resolve high‑level issues regarding configuration processes, records, and integration challenges.
- Lead and support program audits, including functional and physical configuration audits, ensuring adherence to all relevant standards and protocols.
- Active SECRET clearance required.
- Advanced technical knowledge obtained through extensive experience in critical engineering support roles (e.g., senior configuration manager, QA/QE/QC lead, design drafter, technical writer, systems support engineer, integration and test engineer, specialty engineer).
- Extensive experience using and administering version control tools such as PLM, Agile PDM, Team Center, Solid Works, Clear Case, Subversion, Confluence, Windchill.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage significant projects or initiatives in an engineering environment.
- Willingness to work overtime and/or outside normal business hours as needed to meet critical deadlines.
- Minimum educational requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree with 8+ years of experience, or Graduate Degree with 6+ years of experience. In lieu of a degree, 12+ years of experience is required.
- Mastery of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio) including creating and editing documents, templates, macros, styles, stamps, and advanced formatting.
- In‑depth knowledge of EIA‑649C, MIL‑STD‑973, and related CM standards.
- Advanced CM certifications such as CMPIC or NDIA.
- Experience leading teams in fast‑paced continuous change/agile engineering environments.
- High proficiency in reading and interpreting Statements of Work, drawings, schematics, and parts lists.
- Experience implementing continuous process improvement techniques (Lean Six Sigma).
Salary range for this role in Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New York, Cleveland (OH), and Vermont is $86,500 – $160,500. L3
