The Electrical Designer/Drafter plays a pivotal role in the development and implementation of electrical design and drafting standards for Winn-Marion. Working closely with our electrical designers and project management teams, the Electrical Design Drafter is responsible for creating detailed electrical drawings and documentation that adhere to project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
Job Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related field experience.
- Proficiency in EPLAN is a must, with demonstrated experience in electrical design drafting.
- Knowledge of electrical design principles, UL508A standards and applicable codes.
- Previous experience in electrical design or drafting within the construction industry is highly desirable.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, with the capacity to work effectively in a team environment.
- Problem-solving aptitude and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
- Demonstrated computer skills, especially with Microsoft office and technical applications.
- Able to speak, write, and read the English language.
Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Collaborate with electrical designers and project managers to develop electrical designs for construction projects, including power distribution, lighting, and control systems.
- Utilize EPLAN software to create accurate and detailed electrical drawings, schematics, and diagrams based on project requirements and design specifications.
- Ensure that electrical designs comply with relevant NEC, UL508A codes, standards, and regulatory requirements, incorporating necessary revisions and updates as needed.
- Work closely with customers, designers, contractors, sales team, fabrication shop and other stakeholders to coordinate electrical design elements with overall project plans and specifications.
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including shop-drawings, bill of materials, equipment specifications, and as-built drawings.
- Conduct thorough reviews of electrical designs to verify accuracy, completeness, and compliance with quality standards. Address any discrepancies or issues promptly to maintain project timelines and objectives.
- Provide technical support to project teams during the construction phase, responding to inquiries, clarifying design intent, and assisting with resolution of shop fabrication issues.
- Stay informed about advancements in electrical design technologies, industry best practices, and regulatory changes. Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to the enhancement of design workflows and standards within the company.
- Effectively manages time, follows directions and completes work within specified time.
- Complies with all company policies and OSHA rules while carrying out all work processes.
- Successfully completes requested training classes and maintain all necessary safety certificates.
- Follow instructions from manager.
- Checks and responds to all company communications on all scheduled workdays, including voice mail, emails, and text messages. Makes sure that old voice mails are cleared regularly so that the mailbox does not get full.
- Complies with all applicable Company safety requirements.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Able to sit and work at computer keyboard for extended period.
- Able to perform general office administrative activities of copying, filing, faxing, and using the telephone.
- Able to lift and move up to 25 pounds on occasion.
- Maintain regular and on-time attendance.
