To make it real, we need mechanical engineers who thrive on hands‑on problem solving—designing, building, and testing the systems that make engine development possible.
Role Overview- Design and develop engine subsystems and accessories (gearboxes, oil, fuel, or starter systems).
- Design and build structural and mechanical elements of the engine test stand and mounting system.
- Own your systems end‑to‑end: concept to design, analysis, build, and test.
- Act as control room operator during ground engine tests, monitoring your systems in real time.
- Build models, assemblies, and detailed drawings in CAD to support manufacturing and assembly.
- Create and execute test plans—including instrumentation, data review, and test iteration.
- Collaborate closely with design, manufacturing, and test teams to deliver fully integrated systems.
- Communicate findings and plans clearly across a multidisciplinary team.
- Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering degree (or equivalent experience).
- Strong grasp of engineering fundamentals, especially mechanical, fluid, and thermal systems.
- Proficient in CAD for design and drawing generation.
- Demonstrated experience with test planning, data analysis, and hands‑on testing.
- Clear, confident communicator who thrives in fast‑paced, cross‑functional environments.
- Meticulous attention to detail and system‑level thinking.
- Deep sense of ownership—you’re driven to understand how things work, and make them better.
- Experience with full product or test system lifecycle—from whiteboard to test data.
- Background in aerospace fluid systems, mechanical systems or testing.
- Operational mindset—you’re comfortable with fast turns, ambiguity, and real‑time problem solving.
- Passion for sustainable aviation and the future of high‑speed flight.
- P3 Level – Base salary range: $107,000 – $135,000.
- P4 Level – Base salary range: $133,000 – $169,000.
Actual compensation will vary based on location, experience and performance. The range listed is just one component of Boom’s total rewards package. Other elements may include long‑term incentives/equity, flexible PTO, and a suite of progressive benefits designed to support our employees’ well‑being and growth.
ITAR RequirementTo conform to U.S. Government aerospace technology export regulations (ITAR and EAR), applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
