We are looking for an individual with broad knowledge and experience as a consulting design engineer to join our team of highly skilled forensic engineers and scientists. If you are tired of "living thru the debacle" and find the idea of "sifting through the rubble" appealing, we would like to talk to you. Your work will include investigating such things as: electrical shock & electrocution hazards, equipment failures, design error and omissions, construction defects, contractor / subcontractor disputes, electrical safety issues, and other activities that suit your unique skill set.
ProfessionalRequirements
- BS in Electrical Engineering, MS or PhD preferred
- Licensed Professional Engineer, NCEES record, and multiple state licenses are preferred
- 15+ years experience being involved with a team of professional engineers in the design and construction administration of various market segments
The successful candidate will demonstrate conceptual understanding of the application of high voltage power systems within the broader field of Electrical Engineering.
- Has design experience and understanding in the correct application of exotic grounding systems such as: low resistance grounding, high resistance grounding, un-grounded systems; understands the advantages / disadvantages of each and knows when each is a preferred solution over a traditional solidly grounded system.
- Understand the principles of symmetrical components
- Can provide a reasonable estimate, without reliance on calculators or reference materials, of the short circuit values in a distribution system based on information such as transformer size, secondary voltage, and impedance
- Understands sub transient reactance and its impact on an electrical distribution system
- Understands short-time withstand and its importance in selective coordination
- Has detailed knowledge of the NEC, NFPA 70E, and IEEE, in addition to other common standards such as NFPA
- Experience in working with European standards is a plus
- Experience in working with OSHA 1910 subpart S and 1926 subpart K is a plus
