Job Description

General Job Description

  • Support Eurofins Donor & Product Testing business philosophy, leadership values and ethics.
  • Ensure employees meet basic expectations of DPT’s quality management system, including good workmanship, adherence to SOPs, training, documentation practices, accurate record‑keeping.
  • Develop and execute the laboratory structure and organization at each site.
  • Oversee overall operation and administration of the laboratory in compliance with CLIA regulations.
  • Maintain continuous lab operations with integrity and validity for all laboratory activities.
  • Provide strong technical leadership and collaborate across groups to deliver timely quality test results.
Routine Business Operations
  • Oversee Eurofins DPT Microbiology and Sterility Management.
  • Strengthen individual capabilities and build a leadership pipeline.
  • Maintain quality accuracy and ensure all quality monitors meet laboratory objectives.
  • Enforce applicable policies and procedures throughout laboratory operation.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce laboratory policies, procedures, and performance standards.
  • Work with the Director of Laboratory Operations to plan, develop, and drive laboratory vision and strategy.
  • Participate in developing new methodologies & tests and strategic planning initiatives.
  • Oversee all laboratory testing and provide scientific expertise for human‑related specimens.
  • Report critical information to the Executive Team as needed.
  • Demonstrate passion and enthusiasm for the company’s vision and motivate others to achieve company goals.
  • Evaluate automation of current and new testing platforms.
  • Plan and oversee implementation of new instrumentation.
  • Recommend new technology/equipment within DPT’s budget cycle.
  • Establish quantitative financial metrics to evaluate laboratory efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ensure timely review and approval of all laboratory procedures, safety manuals, proficiency testing results, training and competency files, corrective actions.
  • Maintain staffing model, headcount, and cross‑training for microbiological staff.
  • Serve as liaison during regulatory inspections and client audits.
  • Communicate effectively with Executive Leadership.
  • Ensure laboratory passes audits and maintains regulatory status.
  • Stay abreast of quality event management items (complaints, deviations, CAPAs).
  • Manage and coordinate Microbiology and Sterility Laboratory activities, including testing, reporting, methodology development, and standard certification.
  • Apply knowledge of laboratory methods and troubleshoot technical problems.
  • Implement policies and procedures to improve day‑to‑day operations.
  • Deliver presentations, demonstrate cross‑functional leadership, and maintain strong organizational skills.
  • Work independently, adapt to change, manage multiple tasks, and solve complex issues.
  • Review laboratory key performance indicators and quality assurance indicators.
  • Build relationships with Business Development and Account Executives.
  • Handle discipline and termination of employees as needed.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and execute department strategy.
  • Recruit, hire, and train managers, supervisors, and leads.
  • Communicate new directives and policies to staff.
Qualifications
  • M.D., Ph.D., or M.D./Ph.D. with fellowship training (ABP MM or ASM CPEP) and board‑certified or board‑eligible in Medical Microbiology.
