The Licensed Practical Nurse plays a vital role in patient care by contributing to the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation under the supervision of RNs.
Key Responsibilities- Under RN supervision, assess patients’ physical, psychological, and social dimensions in Health Care Units and housing units, contributing to individualized treatment planning.
- Implement treatment programs directed by Health Care Practitioners, administer medications (including IV therapy if certified), and perform diagnostic tests per established protocols.
- Collaborate in controlled substance counts at the beginning of each shift, adhering to safety techniques, procedures, and standard precautions while responding to codes or health emergencies.
- Assist in medical or minor surgical procedures, implement nutrition and therapeutic diet plans, and document nursing encounters using SOAP charting.
- Attend mandatory staff meetings and training sessions to demonstrate commitment to continuous professional development and adherence to policies and procedures.
Education
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
Experience
- Minimum of 1 year of clinic experience preferred.
Licenses/Certifications
- Current licensure as an LPN or LVN in the state of employment.
- Must obtain and maintain CPR certification.
