Base pay range$71,000.00/yr - $75,000.00/yr
What you will doThis position is responsible for working with the City Traffic Engineer, Traffic Operations Coordinator, and other staff to provide a variety of duties related to the installation, integration and maintenance of traffic signal system and ITS elements.
Responsibilities include:
- Perform field inspections of traffic signals and various ITS devices; collect related as-built and field data; maintain an asset inventory and database; work with GIS to incorporate information into a geospatial database.
- Provide maintenance and upgrade activities for the signal system, ITS devices, and other traffic control devices.
- Respond to utility locate requests affecting the traffic signal and ITS infrastructure (Colorado 811), including after-hours, on-call field locates as needed.
- Perform preventive maintenance, device replacement and/or upgrade, and new device installation for traffic signal and ITS equipment.
- Address inquiries or emergencies related to traffic signal operations, including after-hours, on-call services to resolve malfunctions.
- Maintain current knowledge of applicable policies, procedures, codes, and regulations; communicate with management, other departments, public and stakeholders to coordinate work activities.
- Assist the City Traffic Engineer in construction inspection and quality assurance for capital projects related to traffic signal and ITS improvements.
- Support the Traffic Operations Coordinator and staff in operation and maintenance of the traffic signal and ITS system.
- Attend Jacobs Workplace on a full-time basis as required by the role.
- Performs other similar duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED
- IMSA Work Zone Safety certification or equivalent, or ability to obtain within 6 months
- IMSA Traffic Signal Field Technician Level I or ability to obtain within 12 months
- Two (2) years of experience in the traffic signal field
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Must possess a valid State driver’s license and be able to drive a company vehicle
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Four (4) years of experience in field maintenance of traffic signal and ITS equipment
- Ability to read blueprints, surveys and job specifications
- IMSA Traffic Signal Field Technician Level II or ability to obtain within 12 months
The work environment is outdoor and may require exposure to various weather conditions. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties. Attendance and full-time presence at Jacobs Workplace may be required; some overtime, including evenings, weekends and holidays, may be necessary to meet business needs.
Because of traffic signal malfunctions and urgent public safety considerations, this role may participate in a mandatory after-hours on-call rotation. There are currently two technician positions in the on-call rotation; additional roles may be added as the team expands.
Physical demands include the ability to move or carry objects up to 75 pounds occasionally and 20 pounds frequently. Reasonable accommodations can be made based on role requirements.
